Jammu : Stating that Delimitation Commission recommendations are disappointing, the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) members on Tuesday announced to protest in Srinagar on January 1, 2022.
The decison was taken in a PAGD meeting held here under the chairmanship of Farooq Abdullah, in which the current political situation of Jammu and Kashmir was discussed. PAGD spokesman M Y Tarigami said the draft of the delimitation commission was thoroughly examined.
“The leaders of PAGD unanimously expressed dissatisfaction and shock with regard to recommendations of the commission. The constitutionality of the commission under the Reorganization Act has been challenged in the Supreme Court,” said Tarigami.
He said the recommendations were highly disappointing and divisive and would further disempower the people of Kashmir, said the PAGD member.
“It is bound to widen the gaps between regions and communities. As such, it is unacceptable to the people of the region,” he added.
Tarigami said, “It also appealed to the people to remain united and not fall prey to the divisive and disruptive designs of BJP.
“Besides, the PAGD has also decided to hold a peaceful protest on January 1, 2022 at Srinagar against the divisive and unacceptable recommendations of the Commission,” he added.
He appealed to the people of Gujar and Pahari communities to remain together at this hour of serious crisis.
