DM Ramban reviews implementation of Road Safety measures at DRSC meet

Ramban | : District Magistrate, Ramban, Mussarat Islam Monday chaired the District Road Safety Committee meeting and discussed the road safety measures for minimizing accidents, creating awareness about road safety, safety audit of roads and improvement of roads.
The meeting was attended by ADC, Harban Sharma; Additional SP, Rajni Sharma; Chief Education Officer, Vinod Koul; Dy.CMO, Dr. Iqbal Bhat; ARTO Shafqat Majid, Executive Engineers of PWD & PMGSY, NGOs and representatives of NHAI.
While taking point wise review, the DM directed the stakeholder departments to submit an action taken report on the road safety measures pertaining to their respective department and plan of proposed events in this regard.
Police and traffic departments were asked to be more proactive and responsive for curbing traffic rule violations. The stakeholders were also asked to give their feedback for implementing the District Road Safety Action Plan effectively.
Addl. SP highlighted various issues related to the condition of NH-44 and link roads besides suggesting various measures for reducing road accidents.
Earlier, the ARTO informed about the initiatives taken by the MVD to curb the menace of over speeding, over charging, wrong parking, drunken driving, under age driving etc on NHW and other link roads. He disclosed that the MVD has booked 737 vehicles for rash driving, overcharging, and poor vehicle fitness and recovered Rs 37, 04,305 fine for traffic rule violations since April 2021.
During the last two month more than 5000 vehicles have been checked by the MVD checking squad on the national highway, he added.
The DC directed Executive Engineers of PWD, PMGSY and NHAI to submit the details of block spots on NH-44 and other roads besides remedial measures. The Executing agencies were also directed to submit details of installed Crash Barriers besides ensuring installation of sign boards and crash barriers at other identified locations to reduce road accidents.
