Jammu | : BJP leader and former legislator Mr Devender Singh Rana Saturday expressed concern over many parts of the Jammu City as also peripheries plunging into darkness and urged the administration to take earnest measures in resolving the issues with the striking employees, especially during these chilly days.
In a statement issued here on Saturday Devender Singh Rana said the administration must open channels for talks with the striking employees, listen to their grievances and find out ways and means in resolving the issues in the larger public interest. He hoped that all concerned will act responsibly as the stakes are very high, not only in terms of restoring electricity in the affected areas but also to ensure that students do not suffer as they are solely dependent on online classes and examinations. Failure in power supply is impacting the internet services, he added. “An extraordinary situation has arisen due to the stalemate between the concerned department and the protesting employees, with the people making frantic calls for restoration of power supply”, he said, adding that power failure has led to halt in drinking water supply in many areas.
“Employees too must rise to the occasion and not make the general public suffer. Amicable solution will provide succour to all the stakeholders”, he said, adding that the people cannot be held ransom. Rana made a passionate appeal to the administration to intervene, resolve the crisis arising out of the tool-down by the Power Development Department employees, and address their genuine concerns.
