DIG CKR Srinagar flagged off event, winners awarded with cash rewards & prizes

Police organizes Mega-Cycling Race in Budgam

Budgam : A mega-cycling race under the aegis of Civic Action Programme (CAP) was organised by the Budgam Police Saturday which was flagged off by DIG CKR Srinagar Sujit Kumar Singh at Choon Crossing of Budgam Town and culminated at Tangnar Doodhpathri area of Budgam. Over 150 cyclists including boys and girls from different parts of the valley participated in the event with fervour and enthusiasm.
SSP Budgam Tahir Saleem, Addl. SP Budgam, DySP DAR, DySP Hqrs and other Police officers of Budgam were also present on the occasion. During the flag-off ceremony, DIG CKR thanked participants, media persons and all those involved in organizing the event for braving the morning chill and making the event doable. While interacting with the participants, DIG CKR said that youth should inculcate sportsman spirit and a healthy lifestyle.
Later on the culmination of the race at Tangnar Doodhpathri area of Budgam, the winners were awarded with cash prizes, trophies and participation certificates. In the male category first position was secured by Waheed Ahmed from Kanihama, who completed the 25 KM race track in just 54 mins. Saqib-ul-Rehman, Momin Ismail, Manzoor Ahmed and Shabir Ahmed secured 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th positions respectively. The first winner was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 8000. Similarly, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th spots were awarded with a cash prize of Rs 4000, Rs 3000, Rs 2000 and Rs 1500 respectively.
Similarly in the female category, Sara Nakash of Safa Kadal Srinagar secured the first position while Zubaya Tariq, Yameena Parvaiz, Anisa Muzafar and Farah Ahad secured 2nd, 3rd , 4th and 5th positions.
SSP Budgam while interacting with the participants said that J&K Police will organise such kinds of activities in future also, so that the youth stay away from negative activities like drugs and their energy is channelized in right direction. ASP Budgam on the occasion also urged the participants to take part in such events & promote cycling habits to maintain their physical and mental fitness. Notably, a cricket tournament is also being organised by the Budgam Police. Teams from across the district are taking part in the tournament.
