Drug peddler arrested in Handwara : Police

Handwara | : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Handwara and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued on Saturday police said that a police party of Police Station Kralgund during patrolling on Baramulla-Handwara highway near Wangam Kralgund intercepted a suspicious person identified as Abdul Hamid Sheikh son of Ab Rashid resident of Kachloo and during searches recovered 12 grams of brown sugar from his possession following which he was arrested and shifted to Police Station Kralgund where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case vide FIR number 78/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered and investigation has been initiated, police in it’s statement further said “Preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested accused person is a hardcore drug peddler & involved in supplying drugs among youth of the area”.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police said that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to reassure the people about the the measures taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
