BIS, Rajouri Admin host sensitization program for HoDs

Rajouri |: Bureau of Indian Standards Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office in collaboration with District Administration Rajouri organized a Sensitization Programme for the District Heads of different Departments, here at Conference Hall of the PWD Dak Bunglow.
The program was aimed at to develop better understanding and insights about the process of standard formulation, use of Indian standards and implementation of certificate schemes for quality assurance.
Additional District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Pawan Kumar Parihar was the Chief Guest of the event.
Satyadeo Lal, Head, BIS JKBO, in his welcome address, gave an overview of the working of BIS. He discussed in detail the rights of consumers and the importance of standards. He said that BIS is the quality ecosystem of the country and takes care of all the standards of products.
He informed the house that standards have always been closely connected with exchange of goods and services between suppliers and consumers.
He added that the Bureau of Indian Standards has provided traceable and tangible benefits to the economy in a number of ways – providing safe, reliable, quality goods; minimizing health hazards to consumers; promoting exports and imports substitute; control over proliferation of varieties etc.
Enlightening the participants about a number of activities in which BIS is involved, Nisha Bura, Joint Director, JKBO gave a detailed presentation on Standards Formulation, Product certification, Hallmarking and Systems, Foreign Manufacturers Scheme, Registration Scheme, Testing & Calibration Services, Sale of Indian Standards and other publications, International Activities and BIS Care App for consumers.
Addressing the participants, the ADDC said that BIS is responsible for the harmonious development of the activities of standardization, marking and quality certification of goods and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
He said that BIS Certification is a means for providing third party guarantee of quality, safety and reliability of products to the customer.
ADDC also said that the BIS through its core activities of standardization and conformity assessment, has been benefiting the economy by providing safe and reliable and quality goods; minimizing health hazards to consumers; protecting the environment, promoting exports and imports substitute; controlling proliferation of varieties.
Officers who attended the program were CPO, Mohammad Khurshid; GM DIC, Manzoor Hussain; PO ICDS, Kartar Singh; ARTO, Shami Kumar, Principal GMGHSS Rajouri, Abdul Raof Dar, DSCO, Mohd Rashid, ExEn PMGSY Rajouri, Subash Chander; PO DUDA, Kavita, CDPO, Naseer Ahmed besides other District Officers and Ashish Dwivedi, SPO, BIS JKBO attended the program.
