Jammu | : Two week online student induction program for B.E- first year students, 2021 batch organized by the student induction program cell, Government College for Engineering and Technology, Jammu as per the guidelines of AICTE, culminated Friday.
The program was organized under the patronage of Principal Dr. Sameru Sharma. The Principal appreciated students for enthusiastic participation in the induction programme which will facilitate their inclusive personality development. She further stated that it was designed not only to guide students for various job prospects but also to explore their latent talent and creativity.
The closing address was delivered by Dr. Anita Brar, Coordinator for Student induction program. She said the objective of the programme is to make fresher inquisitive learners, socially conscious, ethically and morally upright individuals.
The program was followed by lectures and interactive sessions by experts and eminent speakers from reputed institutes/ companies from across the country.
Several doubts and queries were raised by the students during the interactive session and were amicably answered by the experts. All the sessions were interactive, motivating and insightful.
“Goal setting” by Dr. Yogesh (Assistant Professor, NIT Patna) inspired students to set their goal which is self-desired and self-motivated. The highly insightful and value based presentation was given by Dr. Amrendra Kumar (IIT, BHU) on “Value Education” enriched them with the ancient wisdom of Indian ideological belief. “Relevance of Human Values in life” was strongly advocated by I.D. Soni (former Dy. Director School Education Department). “Blogging” by Arush Mahajan (CEO of via ENS, INR Deals) motivated students to give impetus to their creative pursuits.
Enlightening sessions by Sandeep Sharma and Sanjeev Kumar on “Yog” and “How to manage stress” by Dr. Richa Gupta were well received, which stimulated the minds of students for a healthy and stress free life. Energizing lecture on “Discover yourself” by Er. Pankaj Sharma promulgated the knowledge of true self for self-actualization. Informative speech on “Digital Ethics” delivered by Dr. Rachita Sambyal (Assistant Professor, UIAMS, PU Chandigarh) was highly applauded. Dr. Rashu Sharma and Dr. Geeta Lakhotra (Assistant Professors, GDC Samba) familiarized with the Importance of communication skills and the need of professional ethics in life. Dr. Rahul Kait (Sr. Assistant Prof. GGM Science College) on “Anthropogenic Impact on Ecosystem and Biodiversity”.
“Personality and Career Development” information was given by Dr. Neena Gupta Vij from Central University Jammu and by Chitrakshi Vij was highly applauded by the students.
During the Induction programme other topics covered namely “Design Thinking”, “Artificial Intelligence”, “Energy Resources”, “Role of Music and Sports in Personality Development” “Startup Activities”, “Future of Engineering in India and Abroad” were well acknowledged and admired.
Faculty from the host college also held sessions on “Emerging Trends in Cyber Security & Engineering” by Er. Neeraj Dubey, “Life Skill Education for Sustainable Development” by Dr. Romika Sudan was highly appreciated by the students.
The program was attended by around 250 students. The organizing team made a remarkable contribution to make the event successful. It consisted of Dr. Dina Nath, Shammi Kumar, Er. Malkiyat Singh, Er. Munish, Dr. Raman Gupta, Dr. Ambika Bhat, Er. Akhil Sharma, Dr. Heera Saini, Dr. Rajinder Singh, Altaf Ahmad, Dr. Vibha, Er. Sneha, and Rahul Raina. Dr. Neerupama presented a formal vote of thanks.
