Ramban | : In continuation of its drive against violators of the MVD rules and Covid protocols, the Motor Vehicle Department Ramban today launched a major crack down on National Highway 44 to check violation of safety rules, overloading, over-speeding and overcharging by the public transport operators.
The enforcement team led by Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Ramban, Shafqat Majid, conducted a massive checking drive and seized 2 vehicles and booked many drivers under Motor Vehicles Act between Ramban-Banihal stretch.
The ARTO informed that MVD team checked more than 500 vehicles, out of which 51 were booked for violation of different MVD rules.
He also informed that since launch of latest inspection drive, the Motor Vehicle Department Ramban has checked nearly 4000 vehicles and challaned 500 transporters for different violations under MVD Act.
The ARTO also sensitized the drivers and transporters about the traffic rules and documents required for operating public transport. He also impressed upon them to adopt Covid appropriate behaviour to contain the spread of Covid infection.
