DDC Chairman Kathua reviews achievements under Capex budget, Area Dev Fund

Stress laid on timeline in completion of works, DDC passes 3 resolutions

Kathua | : A meeting of the District Development Council, Kathua was Thursday held under the Chairmanship of DDC Chairman Mahan Singh to review the progress of works under the District Development Plan/ District Capex budget for the year 2021-22 and Area Development Fund.
Deputy Commissioner, Rahul Yadav, Vice Chairman DDC Raghunandan Singh, Chairpersons of BDCs, members of DDC were also present in the review meeting.
The meeting took sector wise review of projects being executed by PWD (R&B), PHE, PDD, Minor Irrigation, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Youth Services and Sports, Health, Urban development, RDD, besides works undertaken by different executing agencies under DDC, BDC and PRI grants.
Status of work wise tendering process, allotment of works, works started on ground and works completed were discussed in detail in the meeting.
It was apprised in the meeting that against total 2913 works allotted 2533 works have been tendered and 1744 works allotted under J&K component of District Capex Budget 201-22.
The DDC Chairperson, Mahan Singh laid thrust on the need to speed up the execution of the works so that development works shall be completed in time bound manner. He appealed to PRI members to work in tandem with Officers of the concerned department to remove any bottlenecks and other barriers without delay. He also called upon the officers and PRI’s to personally monitor the quality of work so that people will get durable assets.
The Chairman urged the officers of the Line and Work department to work in synergy and gear up the men and machinery for coming up to the expectations of the people.
Earlier, DC Kathua apprised the meeting about the status of works being taken up under different sectors and schemes of the departments. He called up the officers to speed up the works so that maximum works shall be complete within set timelines.
Vice Chairperson DDC, Raghunandan Singh while addressing the meeting, stressed on early tendering of the approved works for their timely completion. He urged for constituting a committee for monitoring the works to ensure quality and time bound completion of works.
The DDC Council unanimously approved three resolutions viz Relaxation of embargo of 70% expenditure by December 2021 as one time relaxation for the current fiscal works, Development of tourism Basohli-Bani-Billawar-Lakhanpur-Kathua region and Construction of key roads to improve road connectivity in district Kathua.
The meeting was attended by CPO Kathua Uttam Singh, ACD Kathua Sohan Lal, Executive Engineers of PWD, PHE, PDD, Irrigation, PMGSY, BDOs and other district officers.
