Kathua | : Additional Director General of Police Traffic, T Namgyal, Wednesday visited Kathua and held a joint meeting with the police administration of the district.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic Rural Jammu, Mohan Lal Kaith and other senior officers accompanied the ADGP.
Senior Superintendent of Police Kathua, Romesh Kotwal, Deputy Superintendent of Police Headquarters, Deputy Superintendent of Police, DAR DPL Kathua, Sub Divisional Police Officer Border Kathua, Deputy Superintendent of Police (T) Samba-Kathua and concerned DTIs/Traffic Sector Officers were also present on the occasion.
ADGP exhorted upon the officers to ensure random joint traffic checking Nakas on National Highway and link roads to keep a regular monitoring of all vehicles entering Jammu and Kashmir from Lakhanpur. He also asked them to initiate strict action against the traffic violators under the provisions of Motor Vehicle Act and law of land. He said that special joint traffic checking drives should be launched against the traffic rule violators particularly indulging in visible offences.
ADGP appreciated the traffic Police Rural, Jammu, for their strenuous efforts in dealing effectively with the people who have modified the silencers of their two wheelers under MV Act.
He emphasized the need of further stepping up efforts towards ensuring strict observance of traffic norms to end up the vehicular accidents in the district and it is only possible. In this bregard, he asked for establishing joint special traffic checking nakas in each Police Station and Police Post level.
ADGP stressed upon the officers to ensure proper discipline, accountability and transparency in traffic management system. He asked them to hold regular meetings with the owners of vehicles, transporters and agents to seek their co-operation to the traffic cops in maintaining a smooth and managed traffic flow in the district.
