Rajouri : Intending to raise awareness among the public about water-related issues, a series of IEC activities are being organized in Rajouri under Jal Jeevan Mission.
IEC activities in the district are being undertaken by the Implementation Support Agencies (ISA) for awareness generation on various aspects of water conservation.
To review the activities being carried out under the awareness campaign and achieve the desired outcomes, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan Tuesday chaired a meeting of the concerned officers here in his office chamber.
The meeting was attended by the President MC Rajouri, Mohd Arief; ADDC, Pawan Kumar; CPO, Mohammad Khurshid; SE Hydraulics, JP Singh; ACP, Abdul Rashid Kohli; CAO, Som Singh; CAHO, Dr Fazal Hussain; CHO, Madan Lal; DIO Informatics, Muzafar Mir; LDM, Jyoti Prakash; District Incharge ISA, Saddam Zia besides concerned from ISA.
The Deputy Commissioner said that IEC activities can play a vital role in the successful implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission to bring behaviour change, bring transparency, increase awareness and build capacities.
“Jal Jeevan Mission is envisioned to provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections”, the DC said.
He said that the District Administration Rajouri is working on a multi-pronged strategy to conserve and preserve water and the work on repair, renovation and rejuvenation of all the water bodies of the district is in progress on a massive scale.
Discussing the progress concerning the ongoing IEC activities being carried out in the district under JJM, the District Incharge ISA, Saddam Zia briefed about the activities being held to sensitize the public about different aspects of the Jal Jeevan Mission and the role and responsibilities of the Gram Sabhas for the successful implementation of the JJM in the district.
Directing the officers to make collaborative efforts for the successful conduct of the awareness campaign in the district, the DC asked the concerned to work with added zeal and in a mission mode to achieve the fruitful results of the campaign.
He asked the concerned from ISA to keep the Lok Mitra with them while disseminating necessary information among the public about water-related issues during the Gram Sabhas being organized for the awareness purpose.
Stressing on the importance of collective responsibility towards water conservation, the DC appealed to all stakeholders to work shoulder to shoulder to conserve and preserve water, which is a priceless treasure of nature.
It was also decided that all Govt Schools, Anganwadi centres, courts and Govt offices would be provided with piped water connections.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the status of the progress on several self-employment generation schemes including IDDS, ultra-high-density apple plantation and initiatives under Mission Youth.
He also called for generating mass awareness on self-employment generation schemes being launched in the district for the welfare of the youth and motivating them to avail the necessary benefits of these schemes.
