Srinagar : The former chief ministers of Jammu and Kashmir as well as the political parties and leaders on Monday condemned the attack on police bus at Zewam area of Srinagar in which two cops were killed and 12 others wounded.
National Conference (NC) Vice President and former J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in a tweet condemned the attack and conveyed condolences to the bereaved families.
“Terrible news of a terror attack on a police bus on the outskirts of Srinagar. I unequivocally condemn this attack while at the same time send my heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased & prayers for the injured,” Omar tweeted.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former chief minister, Mehbooba Mufti in a tweet said that the false narrative by Government of India about normalcy in Kashmir stands exposed.
“Terribly sad to hear about the Srinagar attack in which two policemen were killed. GOIs false narrative of normalcy in Kashmir stands exposed yet there has been no course correction. My condolences to the bereaved families,” Mehbooba tweeted.
Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) condemned the attack on police vehicle and expressed grief over the loss of police personnel and injuries to several others. The spokesperson termed the attack as a mindless and inhuman act, urging the government to identify the gunmen for exemplary punishment. JKPCC conveyed heartfelt condolences to families of slain policemen and expressed solidarity with them and also prayed for speedy recovery of injured cops. The security situation has deteriorated to a large extent, Spokesperson said, adding that the government must take measures to prevent loss of lives.
Condemning the attack the President J&K Apni Party Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari termed the incident as the most reprehensible and heinous act where two precious lives were lost in cold blood. “These acts of senseless bloodshed have always been responsible for adding more to the existing miseries of the people living in J&K. Every time such an ominous attack happens, either a mother loses a beloved son or a daughter becomes an orphan. These inhumane attacks have no place in any civilized society and there needs to be an end to this mayhem now” he remarked. Bukhari said he shared the pain and sorrow of the bereaved families and extended heartfelt condolences to kith and kin of the deceased. “I express my profound solidarity with bereaved family members in this time of despair and pray for the eternal peace to the departed souls. I also pray for the speedy recovery of those officials who got injured in this attack,” he observed.
Chairman Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Democratic Front (J&K PDF) and former Minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen expressed his shock over the armed attack on a police bus on National Highway-44 and expressed sympathies with the families of bereaved police personnel .He said killings of human beings in Kashmir has increased the number of orphans and widows at an alarming level . He said killings of human beings was adding to the miseries of the people in Kashmir . He has asked the people to contribute in ending the ongoing bloodshed and violence in Jammu and Kashmir .
CPI (M) senior leader and former Kulgam legislator, Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami also condemned the attack and prayed for the speedy recovery to the injured policemen. He also expressed solidarity with the families of slain policeman and said “we equally share their grief.”
