DC Srinagar visits GB Panth Hospital, 500 bedded Covid Hospital Khonmoh

DM also oversees Medical Oxygen supply, Covid care facilities

Srinagar | : In the wake of the present Covid-19 situation, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Saturday visited G.B Panth Hospital at Sonwar and 500- bedded Covid hospital at Khonmoh.
At GB Panth Pediatric Hospital, the DC inspected the functioning of Medical Oxygen Plants and took a round of the various sections of the hospital and enquired about the facilities being extended to the patients, including diagnostic facilities, medical equipment, oxygen supply, doctors, paramedics and other healthcare facilities.
The DC was informed that the hospital has a facility of over 250 beds and 1140 lpm capacity Medical Oxygen supply at present.
He enquired from the hospital administration about necessary healthcare facilities in the hospital besides adequate Medical Oxygen Supply, ICU beds and ventilators to cater any exigent situation with regard to covid-19. He also discussed augmentation of Medical Oxygen by installation of additional plant.
Later, the DC visited 500-bed Covid Hospital, Khonmoh and took stock of the functioning of Medical Oxygen plants and other Covid care facilities available in the hospital.
On the occasion, the DC took stock of the functioning of the Liquid Oxygen Medical Plant (LMO) in the hospital and was given brief information about its operation and capacity. He was also apprised that out of two Medical Oxygen Plants in the facility, one is fully functional, while other one is being set in order to strengthen the Medical Oxygen supply in the DRDO hospital.
The DC asked the Medical Superintendent to ensure early operationalization of the second oxygen plant so that rise in Covid-19 is tackled in an efficient manner.
Meanwhile, the DC asked the health authorities of both the hospitals to take all necessary measures for ensuring better patient care facilities in the hospitals and remain in the state of readiness to deal with any exigent situation arising due to surge in Covid-19 positive cases.
SDM East and incharge Covid-19, Owais Mushtaq Chief Medical Officer, Srinagar, Dr Jameel, Medical Superintendents of G.B Panth and DRDO hospital and other concerned accompanied the DC during the visit.
