Comr/ Secy Forests sets deadline of 31, Dec for disposal of cases under FRA

Jammu | : Commissioner Secretary, Forests, Ecology and Environment, Sanjeev Verma, Saturday reviewed implementation of Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Reorganization of Forest Rights) Act and related measures for expeditious disposal of cases.
Chief Conservator of Forests, Forest Settlement & Demarcation, Samuel Changkija; representatives of Deputy Commissioners, Tribal Affairs Department, Divisional Forest Officers besides officers from Forest Territorial and Social Forestry and other concerned attended the meeting.
While reviewing district wise progress on receipt and disposal of cases related to community claims and individual claims under the Forest Rights Act for conferment of various rights, Sanjeev Verma set 31st December as deadline for disposal of all pending cases under the Act.
He appreciated the DCs and DFOs for the work done, so far, with regard to implementation of FRA in their respective districts and called upon the officers for proper documentation of initiatives and developments benefitting the tribal communities with implementation of the Act.
Commissioner Secretary impressed upon the DFOs and revenue officers for timely verification to ensure speedy disposal of cases submitted for individual and community rights at Gram Sabha, SDLC, and DLC level.
