DHSJ reviews implementation of NTEP

Jammu | : The achievements under “National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) were Friday reviewed by Director Health Services Jammu (DHSJ), Dr. Renu Sharma here at a meeting.
The meeting was attended by State Tuberculosis Officer Dr. Suman Gupta, WHO Consultant Dr. Sanjay Arora, Assistant Director Schemes Dr. Vijay Basnotra, Medical Officer TB HIV Coordinator Dr. Ramnik Singh and District Tuberculosis Officers of Jammu division.
An overview of the programme was presented by WHO Consultant and the performance during the year as per the targets was also discussed. “Har Ghar Dastak” initiative was the main focus of meeting in which house to house visits by teams comprising of FMPHWs and ASHAs are being done under the supervision of MLHPs of Health & Wellness Centres for collection of samples from presumptive symptomatic TB patients. Emphasis was laid on increasing the number of such samples for early detection of TB for its timely management.
Director Health Services directed STO to prepare a video for reorientation of TB workers depicting procedure for obtaining a sputum specimen. It was also stressed to make optimum use of Mobile van in all districts for outreach activity in hard to reach areas for TB screening and On the spot molecular diagnosis. DHS appreciated the staff for their hard work but underlined the need to enhance their efforts to eliminate TB by 2025 by achieving the set goals and targets.
