Srinagar|  Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Thursday expressed that the Party is committed to restore the pristine glory of Shahri Khas which has been acutely neglected and ignored by the successive governments with regards to the essential infrastructural development.
“Shehr-i-Khaas has always remained the epicenter of cultural, artistic, educational and commerce related activities in Srinagar but in current times it immensely lags behind with regards to the infrastructural facilities. There exists a huge developmental inequity in comparison to the other areas of district Srinagar but Apni Party will ensure that the lost prestige and glory of Shahr-i-Khaas is restored,” he said.
Bukhari was addressing a massive Party workers convention held at Doonipora, Imamia Park, Zadibal wherein SMC Corporator Tanveer Pathan along with his scores of associates joined Apni Party.
On this occasion, Party Provincial President Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Mayor SMC and Party Youth President Junaid Azim Mattu, District President Srinagar Noor Mohammad Sheikh, Youth General Secretary Muzaffar Reshi, Youth Provincial President Khalid Rathore, Party Leader Mir Imaad, District Organisor Parvez Ahmad, Coordinator Zadibal Showkat Mir, Party Leader, Provincial Secretary Youth Imran Bhat, Provincial Joint Secretary Mohammad Dilawar Dar, Provincial Youth Organisor Adil Bhat and Apni Party Leader and Corporator SMC Mohammad Ashraf Palpori.
Addressing the convention, Bukhari said citing of law and order situation to halt the prayers at the historical Jamia Mosque remains unjustified and the administration must allow devotees to observe prayers in its premises without any further delay.
“Holding obligatory prayers is the religious right of every citizen and the administration in coordination with the management of Jamia mosque and local inhabitants must ensure that people observe prayers without any impediments besides maintaining a vigil check on law and order situation as well,” he said.
He also urged the administration along with department of Handicrafts to announce a one-time loan waiver for Artisans keeping in view the prevailing economic situation. “These artisans are economically broken where they cannot even feed their families now. The government must take a humane consideration over this matter and waive off the Artisan loans on compassionate basis. They should also be provide with further economic aid so that they can start afresh and buy required raw materials,” he added.
Speaking over the highly deteriorated condition of Khushalsar, Gilsar and Anchar Lakes, Bukhari said the onus of conserving these natural water bodies lies on Lake Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA) which must initiate a cleanness drive at an earliest.
“These natural lakes are dying a silent death due to the administrative apathy and there appears to be no accountability over it. The LCMA must put forth its efforts for rejuvenating and conserving these lakes which can even bolster tourism activities in the area,” he said.
