Kishtwar : Government Degree College Kishtwar today organised a one day national seminar on the eve of International Anti-corruption Day under the patronage of Principal, Prof. Anirudh Sharma.
Vice Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Athar Gundna was the chief guest of the event. The programme began with welcome address by convenor of the program, Prof. Yaseen Sirwal.
Prof. Yaseen deliberated upon the importance of this day and the purpose of observing international anti corruption day on December 9 worldwide.
Keynote address was delivered by Prof. Musarat Mattoo, wherein he discussed in detail the ill effects of corruption on the society and the current scenario of corruption in India.
As per corruption Perception Index 2020, India stands at rank 86th out of 180 nations, which is a matter of grave concern.
Prof. Mattoo highlighted the importance of moral education to aware youths regarding the purpose of life, strong legal framework for improving the quality of life and shared few contact numbers and email ID’s of various Government agencies for registering complaints regarding corruption.
Over 20 students of the college participated in the seminar and shared their views against corruption and the purpose of international anti corruption Day.
Prof. Ajay Kumar (HoD Physics), Dr. Madhu Bala (HoD Commerce), and Dr. Madhav Ram (HoD Mathematics) were the jury members who judged the student speakers. The first, second, and third position were secured by Jaisha Rasool, Andleeb Jahan & Ujla Devi, respectively.
In his concluding remarks, Dr. Athar spoke about the importance of awareness in the society against corruption and appreciated the committee for organising the seminar besides lauded the students for their active participation in this important event.
At the end faculty members and students of the college joined to take pledge against corruption. The program culminated with a vote of thanks by Dr. Zahoor Ahmed Wani.
