Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Pulwama, Dr Sheikh Abdul Aziz was the chief guest and Chief Education Officer Pulwama was guest of honor.ADDC said that the main motto of the ‘Eat Right’ is to encourage the creative talent of School going children and enable them to develop healthy dietary habits.
He advised the participants to adopt and disseminate the message of using fortified food and limit consumption of high fat, sugar and salt foods.
He explored the theme Eat Safe, Eat Healthy & Fortified.
ADDC said that the food habits are formed early in life and it is difficult to change thereafter; the focus of the ‘Eat Right School’ program is on young people. A school is an obvious place where healthy eating habits may form.
The Eat Right School program of FSSAI uses food as a pedagogical tool to bring in a sustainable change in the dietary habits of children. Young people are agents of change and their potential to influence entire families could be leveraged to change the way people eat.
The Eat Right Painting Competition aims to tap the creative talent of students and enable them to inculcate healthy dietary habits starting young. The competition aims to encourage schools to create an environment of healthy and safe food to engage, excite and enable students to inculcate habits on food and nutrition.
The ADDC said eat local, seasonal and variety foods and avoid Junk food as it is unhealthy, causes health problems, obesity, is bad for brain function, has risk of diabetes, heart disease, affects bone health etc.

Among others the programme was attended by Chief Education Officer, Pulwama, Assistant Commissioner Food & Drug Organization, Food Safety Officer, Zonal Education Officer, Kakapora, Headmaster GGMS, staff members besides students from various government schools of Kakapora Zone.
