DC Srinagar inspects restoration of Water bodies, takes on spot review to resolve Ring Road issues

Srinagar : The Deputy Commissioner (DC), Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Wednesday undertook an extensive tour of various City areas to inspect the pace of ongoing developmental works. He reviewed ongoing work for restoration of Gilsar lake and Vicharnag Temple, besides the Srinagar Ring Road Project.
Chief Planning Officer, Srinagar, Assistant Commissioner Nazool, Superintendent Engineer SMC, Executive Engineer, I&FC, Tehsildars of Eidgah and Panthachowk besides other concerned Officers accompanied the DC during the visit.
While inspecting the pace of restoration works undertaken for cleaning and dredging of Gilsar lake, the Deputy Commissioner expressed his satisfaction over the measures being carried out to revive decades-old glory of the Lake. The DC directed the concerned officers and executing agencies to accelerate the pace of work to achieve the target in a time bound manner. He further directed them to carry the dredging and cleaning work in the other part of the lake and remove all encroachments.
The DC also stressed on Community participation in restoration, preservation and maintenance of water bodies. He said restoration of these water bodies will not only enhance the scenic beauty and environment of the areas but also generate vast opportunities of employment for the local population by attracting visitors in the area.
At Vicharnag Temple, the DC directed the concerned Officers to undertake measures for de-weeding to clear the Vicharnag water body junction which connects River Sind of Ganderbal with Gilsar Lake. He also asked the concerned to remove all muck and garbage besides cutting unwanted grass in and around the premises of the Temple.
Later, the DC visited Narbal Junction point and inspected the site at Ranmbirgarh-Pratabgrah falling under Srinagar Ring Road. The DC directed the officers to sought out the issue regarding land acquisition and start the work as per DPR.
On the occasion, several deputationists of the area also called on the DC and put forth their issues before him. The DC listened to them patiently and assured that all their genuine issues will be looked into on top priority for speedy resolution.
