Accountability of NGOs vis-a vis orphan adoption row

When Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) preaching welfare of poor, downtrodden and helpless sections of the society are found engaged in the trading of covid orphans, the intervention of the government for punishing the perpetrators of worst ever form of child abuse becomes not only imperative but also unavoidable. Few public statements by political parties and civil society groups are not sufficient enough to shut doors for occurrence and re-occurence of such intolerable inhuman acts in future but actions alone would shut the doors for occurrence and re-occurrence of such inhuman acts under the garb of women and child welfare in Jammu & Kashmir and other parts of the country. Though antecedents of the NGO’s are usually verified at the time of their registration but unless and until their activities are not regulated by one or other law enforcing institutions, the exploitation of poor and downtrodden under the garb of their welfare can’t be neutralised by the same law enforcing institutions which clear their cases for registration by the government. In fact mushroom growth of NGOs is the cause of exploitation of poor and downtrodden by the NGOs who mostly carry out welfare initiatives only to project their demands for sanction of huge financial assistance for welfare initiatives from the Government. Demanding public money for welfare of poor and downtrodden and actually utilising the same money for the exploitation of poor and downtrodden is by all standards of understandability an insult to the institution of charity and welfare of the poor and downtrodden. To ensure accountability of the non governmental organisations (NGOs) propagating the job of charity and welfare of poor and downtrodden, an immediate audit of the accounts statements of all the NGOs within and outside Jammu & Kashmir has not only become imperative but also unavoidable .

Since  misdeeds of a particular NGO in the name of adoption of covid orphans has necessitated a rigorous verification of all the NGOs working within and outside Jammu & Kashmir , a time bound judicial probe is the only way restore the faith of people in the institutions of public accountability and public welfare in Jammu & Kashmir.

Under the garb of adoption, the alleged sale of covid orphans reported from Pampore town of Kashmir has though been noticed with contempt from the government but a time bound judicial inquiry into this worst ever form of the racket of orphans would be obviously the only way to bring to justice all the perpetrators of this worst ever form of intolerable inhuman act.
