Srinagar: 59th Raising day of Homeguards/ Civil Defence was on Monday celebrated at Divisional Commandant Home Guards Headquarter Bemina Srinagar. Divisional Commandant Home Guards Kashmir read the messages of President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Chief Secretary Dr Arun Kumar Mehta, Principal Secretary Home Deptt. Shaleen Kabra, Director General Fire Services/ Civil Defence & Homeguards Govt of India Taj Hassan, Director General Police Dilbag Singh, Commandant General HG/CD/SDRF J&K Danesh Rana.
On the occasion a ceremonial parade was presented by the volunteers of Homeguards/Civil Defence. Firdous Iqbal Divisional Commandant Homeguards Kashmir took the salute on the occasion. The duties & responsibilities of HG/CD volunteers as first responders in Disaster Management and mitigation were highlighted on the occasion besides the role of HG volunteers in rescue and Disaster Management was appreciated, as volunteers have been performing selflessly in the testing times. Their role during natural calamities in assisting civil administration as well as Police administration particularly in traffic regulation, Haj/ Yatra duties and their challenging duties during Covid-19 have been acknowledged and appreciated by all the dignitaries in their respective messages.
