Ang : A 36-year-old man from remote Marwah area of Kishtwar dies, after which his family members and relatives staged protest and alleged negligence on part of doctors.
The relatives alleged that they had shifted the patient in the hospital to get better facilities as there aren’t such facilities in Marwah area and if such things will happen in main hospitals, then where will the poor go.
One of the relatives said that on Sunday they took Manzoor to GMC Anantnag and after some tests like TROPT and ECG were carried out, a doctor at the hospital said that his reports are clear and doesn’t have any heart issues but patient is in depression and needs to visit to a psychiatrist.
“The doctor advised us to give him a tablet following which he got some relief and we took him to our rented accommodation at Ashajipora Anantnag. However, on Sunday evening, he complained of pain, following which we again took him to GMC Anantnag where the same doctor was on duty that had treated him earlier in the day.
“He again assured us that there is no need to worry and gave him the same tablet which he had prescribed him earlier,” they said.
“After taking the tablet, the patient started vomiting and the same doctor advised an injection. After a while the patient was feeling relaxed, so we requested the doctor to provide us a bed so that we can keep him in the hospital but he advised us to take him home and consult a psychiatrist,” the family said.
“On Monday morning when we took him to the hospital to visit a psychiatrist, we were told that the patient had died,” the family said.
“If there wasn’t any problem, then how he died and if there was any problem, the doctor should have informed us so that we could have taken him to any private facilities or shifted him to Soura,” the family said.
“We want justice. The deceased has children. Higher authorities must take cognizance of the issue and action must be taken against doctors involved in the negligence,” they said.
Meanwhile, Incharge Medical Superintendent GMC Anantnag Dr Fayaz Ahmad said that the matter has already brought in his notice that coronary artery patient who was on follow up of SKIMS Soura had come to hospital and doctor on duty has prescribed him tests which were found normal after which he was advised to return home.
“On Monday morning they came again and said he had died suddenly at home,” he said, adding that we will look into the matter.
“Let the family give representation and we will investigate the matter,” Fayaz said. “If any negligence is found, action will be action.”
“Our aim is to treat every patient with proper care and this matter will be fully investigated after taking up issue with HOD medicine as well,” he said
