Srinagar/ Dec,6 :  In the backdrop of emergence of objectionable study material published in the History and Civics book of 7th class on behalf JAY CEE PUBLICATIONS Pvt Ltd., New Delhi and the ban imposed on it on behalf of J&K Board of School Education, the  Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum has asked the government to establish a Regulatory Board in J&K to screen all kinds of publications that are sold and read here in schools and other academia for basic learners as well as the researchers.
In a statement issued here JKCSF Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani expressed anguish over the emergence of such objectionable material meant for school curriculum that has hurt the sentiments of believers of  Islam. JKCSF  in it’s statement hailed the decision of J& K BOSE for taking immediate action in banning the sale and distribution of the said publication to avoid further confusions and a setback to religious belief.
Quoting a news report the statement said, Board of School Education has directed all schools in of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh not to use the contentious class 7 ‘History and Civics’ textbook over the depiction of last messenger of Islam.  JKCSF has vehemently condemned the act of publication of certain material that has hurt the sentiments of the people, in spite of the publishing house having regretted the mistake made by them.
Referring to the publication house that has published an illustration depicting Prophet Muhammad (SAW) with Hazrat Jibraeel (AS) in its ICSE History and Civics (Foerver) book for class 7th, the JKCSF statement said “the illustration, on page number 33, has been captioned as ‘A painting of Archangel Gabriel who brought message to Muhammad’ (SAW).
The statement further said that although the publisher has sought now an apology and termed it as an error, but such ‘errors’ if left uncorrected could cause damage to communal harmony and hurt the sentiments of Muslims in particular because Prophet Mohammad(SAW) and matters related to him are all sensitive for Muslims and all others sane and faith keeping people.
Urging the govt,Ulemas and other stakeholders to take a serious note of such blasphemy act the JKCSF demanded commissioning of a Regulatory Board  that will monitor, check and safeguard the syllabus, books and  other journals meant for curriculum sale, study  and distribution in Jammu and Kashmir to ensure all time peace and  conflict free education of children.
