Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers including a notorious drug peddler in South Kashmir districts and also recovered huge quantity of contraband substance was also recovered from their possession.
Stating that on acting on specific information regarding drug peddling in Qazigund area, a police party of Police Station Qazigund raided a residential house located at Nussu Badragund and during the raid police party recovered huge quantity of Fukki, weighing about 100Kgs from the possession of a notorious drug peddler, police in it’s statement further said that the accused identified as Mohd Amir Ganie son of Mohd Ahsan Ganie resident of Nussu Badragund Qazigund has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.
Police in it’s statement also said that in yet another similar incident in Pulwama district a police party of Police Station Pulwama during routine checking at a check point established at Eidgah crossing Pulwama, intercepted a suspicious person identified as Imran Rashid son of Abdul Rashid Bhat resident of Sonsamil.
Stating that the personal search of the above named accused 10 bottles of codeine phosphate was recovered from his possession following which he was arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody, police in the above referred statement said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and investigations have been taken up.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, stating therein further that actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
