Disaster preparedness training held to commemorate Int’l Day for PwD

Srinagar : On the eve of International Day for Persons with Disabilities, a one day Disaster Preparedness Training was organised for the Patients and Staff of Composite Regional Centre, Bemina Srinagar Thursday. The programme was attended by Er. Aamir Ali, Director Disaster Management & Nodal Officer SEOC, Dr. Mir Zaffar Iqbal, Director CRC Bemina and MN Khama, Deputy Commandant NDRF. The programme was organised by the Department of Disaster Management Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (DMRRR) in collaboration with State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). The training was attended by the Staff members of CRC, Students undergoing various para-medical courses at CRC, Parents of patients having disabilities, who undergo treatment and physiotherapy at CRC Bemina. During the training the participants were given practical sessions on Search & Rescue, Fire Fighting and First Aid by the expert instructors of SDRF led by Abdul Gaffar and Aijaz Ahmed.
Composite Regional Centre (CRC) Bemina has been established for Persons with Disabilities of J&K, by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India. The objective of CRC is to build an inclusive society in which equal opportunities are provided for the growth and development of Persons with Disabilities, so that they can lead productive, safe and dignified lives. The Centre also provides rehabilitation to Persons with Disabilities and assists in creating an enabling environment that provides such persons with equal opportunities, protection of their rights, and enables them to participate as independent and productive members of society.
