Educational Institutions observe Cyber awareness day

Jammu: Government Degree College Sunderbani, Cyber jagrookta Club in collaboration with Department of Sociology observed “Cyber Jagrookta Diwas” and held special series of awareness activities as proposed by ministry of home affairs.
The event was held under the overall supervision of Principal Prof. (Dr) Vandana Gupta. The event witnessed hosting of poster making competition on the theme “Cyber Crime and safety” in which a large number of students participated. The competition was organized to raise awareness about cyber crimes and how to deal with them.
The programme was coordinated by Prof. Sheraz kousser.
1st position was secured by Saloni Sharma of B.A- 5th Sem, 2nd position was bagged by Disha Sharma of B.A- 5th Sem and 3rd position was shared by Priya Sharma 1st Sem and Ansuja from 5th Sem. The competition was judged by Dr Mohd Azam (H.O.D Urdu) Prof. Sham Lal (H.O.D Economics) Dr Shehzad Ahmed Prof. Kuldeep Singh (H.O.D English) and Prof. Arpana Sharma (Sanskrit).
Meanwhile, Government P.G College for Women Gandhi Nagar Jammu organised a seminar on cyber crime awareness under the series of Cyber Jaagrookta (Awareness) Diwas.
The Department of Computer Applications in collaboration with IQAC organized the seminar. The speakers educated the audience about cyber crime and the need for strengthening cyber security for the prevention of cyber crime. The program was held under the patronage of Principal Prof. (Dr.) SangitaNagari.
She applauded the Ministry of Home Affairs and Higher Education Department J&K for implementing the scheme called “Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (14C)” to deal with cyber crime in a coordinated and comprehensive manner. She laid emphasis on holding more such awareness programmes on cyber security. “Since internet is widely used by the people in their day to day lives, it is necessary to spread awareness among the students for safe and secure use of these platforms” she added.
Earlier, Dr. Suresh Kumar Bhat, Convener IQAC of the college delivered the welcome address and briefed the students about the programme.
Er. Vikas Razdan, Cyber Warrior and Cyber Security Expert was the keynote speaker.
In his talk, he deliberated about dark web, cyber crime information, Inter of Things, Smartphone Risks, online transaction risks, social media vulnerability, cyber bullying, cyber stalking, cyber rights, etc. The session was very interactive and both faculty and students actively participated and got awareness about cyber crime and security.
The event was organized by the committee constituted for Cyber Jaagrokta (Awareness) Diwas which included Prof. Rohit Gupta (Nodal Officer), members viz. Prof.AmbicaKumari, Prof.MamtaKundal, Dr. Ashok Kumar, Prof. Rajinder Kumar and Prof. Poonam. The proceedings of the event were conducted by Prof. Ambica Kumari, while Prof. MamtaKundal delivered the vote of thanks. The technical support for the event was provided by the Department of Computer Applications.
