DC Poonch discusses arrangements for Armed Forces Flag Day

Target set for distributing 5000 flags

Poonch : Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Inder Jeet Wednesday chaired a meeting of District Level Armed Forces Flag Day Committee being held on 07 of December, 2021.
At the outset of the meeting, Zila Sainik Welfare Officer, Poonch elaborated the importance of the celebration of Armed Forces Flag Day and distribution of Flags .
The Deputy Commissioner said that 7th December is observed as the Armed Forces Flag Day across the country to commemorate this day as an honour to the soldiers, sailors and airmen of India who valiantly safeguard the country’s sovereignty.
The DC emphasised that Armed Forces Flag Day remind us to express our gratitude as well as appreciation to the military personnel of India and to acknowledge those who laid their lives for Mother India.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the funds so collected are used for the welfare of Defence Personnel.
He asked for keeping a contribution box in all offices of district Poonch to collect donations for the Day.
The Deputy Commissioner said that a total of 5000 Flags will be distributed, of which 500 Flags each will be kept at the disposal of all six Tehsildars, 1000 at the disposal of JKP and remaining 1000 at the disposal of departments of PWD, PMGSY, PHE, Irrigation & flood control PDD, REW, Forest for pinning and collection of donation.
The DC said that Principals of GDC Poonch, Surankote and Mendhar will involve the volunteers of NCC, NSS,NYK for the distribution of Flags and collection of donations on the Day.
The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police, Dr.Vinod Kumar; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Zaheer Ahmed Kaifi; Chief Medical Officer, Dr. G. A Malik; District Information Officer, Abid Hussain Shah; General Manager DIC poonch, Dr. Zakir Hussain; District Treasury officer, Rashid Dostum and Zilla Sainik Welfare officer, Mushtaq Ahmed.
