Students and staff members from Educational institutions of Jammu division including Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, GDC Udhampur, GCW Udhampur, participated in the expedition and appreciated the opportunity to explore the heritage and adventure.
Registrar, SMVDU, Nagendra Singh Jamwal, Assistant Director Tourism, NHW Batote, Dr Umesh Shan, were also part of the trek, which was led by Hirdesh Kumar, CEO, J&K.
Enroute the two day thrilling trek, participants belonging to various parts of the country were led to sites that highlight the culture and heritage of Jammu division, such as ancient Sankari Devta Temple, beautiful and sacred Bowlis, seasonal residential Dhoks of nomadic population and ethnic food while blending adventure and tourism with it.
“Like they say the journey matters more than the destination. This trek of nearly 22 km on mountain meadows above 8000 feet, amidst views of lofty Himalayan peaks of Kishtwar and forests of pines, deodar and oaks, add to the excitement. It makes sure that it is worth participating,” said Chief Executive Officer, Patnitop Development Authority, Sher Singh.
He asserted that promoting the trail, which is already of world repute, will prove a boon towards giving new dimensions to region’s tourism industry.
Towards the end of the trekking camp, that is, on 30th November, participants enjoyed bonfire and musical night, followed by a felicitation program.
