Awareness prog on ‘Elimination of Violence against Women’ held at ITI Budgam

Budgam : The District Level Centre for Women-Mahila Shakti Kendra Budgam Saturday organised a daylong awareness programme themed ‘Orange the world’ to end all the types of violence now!, at ITI Budgam.
The awareness programme was organised on the directions of District Social Welfare Officer Budgam, Dr Syed Farhana Asgar.
On the occasion, District Coordinator, Asifa Manzoor, briefed the participants about the violence and the types of violence faced by the Women in general. She raised an awareness regarding prevention and elimination of violence against women and informed the participants to approach Sakhi One Stop Centre and Shelter Home Sheikhpora Budgam if any woman is subjected to violence and is in distress.
Continuing the programme, Advocate Feroz Ahmad from JJB/DLSA Budgam imparted the awareness regarding the different laws and rights that are related to security and safety of the women and motivated them to come forward and know their Rights.
Saima from Special Cell for Women also spoke on the topic and informed the participants that for any kind of Assistance regarding the Services provided by the Special Cell for Women, the participants can approach the Centre.
Women Welfare Officer, Afroza Bhat apprised that the women in general should come forward, break their silence and raise voice against the evils of the society.
She said if any woman is facing any kind of violence whether Physical, Sexual, Emotional, Economic and Dowry related harressment etc she should dial 24/7 hour toll free no. 181 to get access to Justice, access to Welfare and access to District Administration through One Stop Centre Budgam.
Concluding the programme, the Principal ITI gave vote of thanks to the participants and to the team of MSK/OSC for sharing such useful information and making the programme successful.
