Awantipora :The Health Centre of Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) Awantipora in collaboration with Public Health Centre (PHC) Awantipora Tuesday organized a day-long camp to conduct Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) for COVID-19 on the campus.
The students, faculty members and other officials of the university as well as members from Awantipora community voluntarily gave their samples for the testing.
Medical Consultant IUST, Dr. Zahida Rasool, who led the testing team said, “We organised this camp given the recent uptick in the number of COVID -19 positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir”.
She added that the testing could help in establishing the status of COVID situation on the campus.
Dr. Zahida appealed to the students, staff and community members to strictly follow COVID-19 appropriate behaviour to stave off the transmission of infection.
Lab Technician from PHC Awantipora Nasib Singh said, “We received a good response from both the staff and students and got 110 samples Tuesday. University administration has been able to successfully organize these testing camps.” He further opined that the staff and students appreciated the efforts of university administration and other health officials for organising the camp.
Nasib Singh also added that no covid positive case was registered so far among more than hundred samples taken in the campus.
