3 drug peddlers arrested, Contraband substances recovered : Police

Anantnag, Baramulla: Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Anantnag and Baramulla in a series of actions and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued on Tuesday police said that in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district officers from Police Station Bijbehara at a checkpoint arrested three drug peddlers identified as Mehraj Ahmad Sheikh son of Mohd Ismail resident of Dalgate Srinagar, Mohd Altaf Baluki son of Abdul Rashid resident of Ranawari Srinagar and Rayees Ahmad Lone son of Abdul Salam resident of Prichal Pulwama. Stating that 12Kgs of Charas powder were recovered from the possession of the above named accused who were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, police in it’s statement further said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Bijbehara and investigation initiated.
Police in it’s statement also said that in a similar incident in North Kashmir’s Baramulla a police party led by I/C PP Palhallan under the supervision of SDPO Pattan J&KMohammad Nawaz Khanday-JKPS, , during routine patrolling at Yadipora Pattan arrested a drug peddler identified as Laldin Poswal son of Siraj-ud-din Poswal resident of Warnow Lolab Kupwara and recovered 16 strips (172 tablets) of banned drugs from his possession.
Stating that the above named accused was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, police in it’s above quoted statement further said that a case under relevant section of law has been registered at PS Pattan and further investigation is in progress.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood, stating therein that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law and actions against drug peddlers are taken reassure the people about the efforts made keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
