3 drug peddlers arrested in Pulwama, contraband substance recovered : Police

Pulwama : Police on Monday said that in a series of actions three drug peddlers were arrested in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district and contraband substances were recovered from their possession.
In a statement issued on Monday police said that Officers from Police Station Pulwama arrested two drug peddlers and also recovered 130Kgs of Poppy straw, 10Kgs of Bhang Patri and a grinding machine from their possession. Stating that the accused detained by it were identified as Wasim Ahmad Ganaie son of Mohd Rajab Ganaie resident of Badriwan and Reyaz Ahmad Wani son of Gh Ahmad Wani resident of Bunagam Koiyal, police in the above referred statement firther said that both the arrested persons are notorious drug peddlers of the area and shifted to PS where they remain in custody. “A case vide FIR No. 318/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Pulwama and investigation has been set into motion”, reads the statement.
Police in it’s statement also said that in yet another similar incident Officers from PS Pulwama arrested one more drug peddler from Gudoora Pulwama and identified him as Ab Qayoom Mir son of Wali Mohd Mir resident of Gudoora. During checking following which 16Kgs of Poppy straw were recovered from his possession. Stating that the above named accused was shifted to PS where he remains in custody, police in it’s statement furthermore said that a case vide FIR No. 317/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Pulwama and investigation has been set into motion.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that peopler found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, stating therein that actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
