Srinagar/ Nov,22: The PHD students of batch-2018 are in anger as University failed to convene Board of Research Studies. According to Scholars on 18/11/2018 Office of the Directorate of Admissions and Competitive Exams, University of Kashmir conducted integrated PhD Entrance Examination (Law) -2018. The Selected candidates appeared before Departmental Research Committee (DRC) for submission of one page synopsis and interaction with DRC members on 24/12/2018. Subsequently the Scholars joined from 01/02/2019 in the department, attended the classes of six month course work and also completed the formalities of admission like submission of fees, forms, affidavits etc. The examination of the said course-work was conducted from 28th December 2019 to 04 Jan. 2020, the result of which was declared on 03/03/2020. The second year of residence period in the School of Law, commenced with daily attendance in the office/chamber of Dean and Head w.e.f. 01/02/2020.

The Scholars also submitted 20 copies of synopsis in the office of the Dean, in response to the notice issued vide dated 16/12/2019 and dated 18/2/2020 by department of Law, University of Kashmir.
The Department Research Committee was convened on 3rd October, 2020, in which DRC members recommended changes in the synopsis of the scholars to be submitted in revised manner by or before 9th Oct. 2020.
“Since the time of admission in the Course, the required residence period has exhausted and now we are at the verge of completion of three years” the scholars added. It is pertinent to mention till date Board of Research Studies for PhD Batch -2018 has not been convened by Department of Dean Research and Law Department, University of Kashmir. The University of Kashmir Statutes 2017 provides for BORS shall preferably met twice a year depending upon the business available. The scholars add that further research work is at halt due to non-fulfillment of BORS. In these three years since 2019 january the law dept of University as usual conducted other routine business like classes of LLB, BA. LLB, LLM as well as their examinations despite covid 19 and other reasons, but are step motherly treating the PhD Law batch 2018.The researchers requested university’s Vice-Chancellor to convene the meeting of BORS for the PhD(law) Batch 2018 as early as possible through Online mode or offline mode whichever is feasible so that the scholars may be able to complete their phd. The scholars are put to mental stress with this unnecessary delay on part of Dean Research and Law Department of University of Kashmir.
