Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested three timber smugglers in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district and also seized illicit timber being carried on 03 horses.
In a statement issued on Saturday police said that a Police party of Police Post Pakherpora during naka checking at Balkhi Mohallah Pakherpora intercepted three persons carrying illicit timber swans laden on horses and identified them as Showkat Ahmed Awaan son of Mohd Shafi Awaan, Ghulam Mohi-u-din Parray son of Abdul Ahad Parray both residents of Chawan Keller and Shabeer Ahamd Tedwa son of Mohd Yaqoob Tedwa resident of Sangerwani.
Stating that all the above named accused have been arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody, police in it’s statement further said that three horses used in the commission of crime have also been seized.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 118/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Charar-i-Sharief and investigation has been taken up.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement police said that it takes actions against anti social elements are taken to keep society free from all sorts of crimes and resolved therein that it will continue to act as per law against those who indulge in criminal activities.
