Srinagar: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, who is also the Chairman District Disaster Management Authority, the Sectoral Officers of District Administration, Srinagar Wednesday participated in Online Training programme (OTP) on “Multi Sector Coordination for Emergency Shelter Preparedness for Response, including Eco-DRR in India” at Conference Hall of DC Office Complex, here.
The Online Programme was organized by National Institute of Disaster Management, Union Ministry of Home Affairs in collaboration with Sphere India.
During the programme, senior Resource Persons from NIDM, UN agencies and INGOs delivered lectures on the topic.
The speakers informed that the Multi sector Coordination Handbook on Shelter and other 5 Sectors have been developed over the past year after numerous consultative meetings with Sector Experts from local and National organizations under the Network Approach to Emergency Preparedness for Response.
They said it provides practical guidance and advice for six sectors like Education, Health, Food & Nutrition security, WASH, Shelter, and Protection on how different stakeholders and sector actors (NGOs, CSOs, UN Agencies, and Government) can come together to strategize sector preparedness and response in emergencies.
During the online program, key principles of humanitarian action and how coordination and joint efforts among different sector players can increase the effectiveness and efficiency of humanitarian interventions and promote better outcomes.
Among others, Superintendent Engineer R&B, Superintendent Engineer PHE, Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Deputy Director FCS&CA, District Social Welfare Officer and other concerned officers participated in the Online Training program, while Technical support for the programme was provided by NIC Srinagar under the supervision of Sr. Technical Director NIC, Farooq Ahmad.
