Police commences special training programme for IOs in Budgam

Srinagar: Police in Budgam have commenced a two weeks comprehensive training programme regarding “investigation techniques” for equipping Investigating Officers with the special investigation procedures embarked on varied offences including offences punishable under special laws viz, Rape, POCSO, NDPS, UAPA, Explosive Substances Act, Juvenile Justice Act, Inquest Proceedings, Cyber Crimes and other emerging crimes. The training programme is being held at District Police Lines Budgam till 30/11/2021. 25 investigating officers drawn from all police stations, police posts and other allied units of district Budgam shall be impart training in first phase.
SSP Budgam Tahir Saleem accompanied by Dy.SP DAR and other officers inaugurated the training program. SSP Budgam during his introductory speech welcomed the participants and urged that such kind of orientation programs will be continued in the district to cope up the emerging crimes and effective investigating mechanism. He also stressed that police must be sensitive in dealing with offences against women & children and due regard and respect should be given to their dignity while undertaking such investigations to uphold the confidence of the public in the system.
He emphasized the importance of the investigations in the Criminal Justice Delivery System wherein the Police has the major role to play. He also stressed that the Police being the first respondent to a crime ought to be highly skilled in ensuring effective investigations which can afford a firm basis for bringing the criminals to book and prevent the acquittals based on technicalities paving a way in ensuring a crime-free society.
