Dist Adm. Srinagar celebrates Janjati Gaurav Diwas

Srinagar: To mark the celebrations of rich Cultural Heritage of Tribal Communities and honouring the Tribal Citizens for their excellent performance in various fields, the District Administration Srinagar on Monday organised a Janjati Gaurav Diwas (Tribal Festival) at Fakir Gujri in Harwan Panchayat Block of Srinagar District.
The programme was organised under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad and witnessed participation of large number of people of Faqir Gujri and adjacent villages, besides Officers of various Departments.
Addressing the gathering, the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Srinagar, Gulzar Ahmad Shabnum enumerated the measures taken by the Government for the upliftment of Tribal communities.
He said that focused attention is being given by the Government for holistic development and welfare of Tribal people to ensure empowerment of the community at all fronts.
Special Secretary, Tribal Affairs Department, Mohammad Harun Malik in his address asked the Tribals to come forward for being the active stakeholders under the Tribal Welfare schemes which guarantee employment and overall empowerment of tribals.
Various speakers of Tribal Community also threw light on the importance of the day and highlighted the contribution of various Tribal heroes and appealed the participants to ensure 100 percent literacy among Tribal population besides, to avail benefits of various schemes meant for their welfare
Assistant Commissioner Panchayats, Nighat and District Panchayat Officer Srinagar, Kundanbir Kour also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the importance of Janjati Gourav Divas.
Earlier, during the Programme, mesmerising Cultural programmes were presented by the Tribal Artists of the area highlighting the Tribal Tradition and Culture.
