Div Com Kashmir flags-off ‘Childline Se Dosti’ week

Says children are blooming buds who need protection from exploitation

SRINAGAR: On the occasion of Children’s Day or (Bal Diwas), being celebrated every year on 14th of November across the country, the Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole today flagged off ‘Childline Se Dosti’ Week of Childline- an NGO, from the premises of the office.

The childline is a Non-Government Organization, working for the rights of children who are in distress and need of assistance.

Children’s Day is being celebrated with an aim to increase awareness of the rights, care and education of children. On the occasion, Children tied Surakhsha Bandhan to Div Com.

Speaking at the event, the Div Com said that children are blooming buds and future asset of the nation who need care, protection from exploitation and shall enjoy their rights. He said that better childhood ensures behavioural develpment of a child and progressive citizen of a nation.

Meanwhile, Div Com appreciated NGO for the work regarding children, their protection and rights.

The Chidline Se Dosti week is celebrated to disseminate the message about rights of the children, their upbringing and protection besides eradicate child labour, trafficking and abuse.

A member of ‘Chidline’ said that the week from November 14 to 21 is celebrated every year across the country as well as in J&K. He said in Kashmir Childline week is being observed in four districts including Srinagar, Budgam, Anantnag and Kupwara. The childline has a toll free number 1098 where any issue regarding children exploitation can be registered.
