Srinagar: Police on Friday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district and also recovered huge quantity of psychotropic substance from their possession.
In a statement issued here on Friday police said that a police party of PS Rajpora during patrolling in Putrigam area intercepted a suspicious person who on seeing the police party tried to flee from the spot however, but alert police party apprehended him tactfully and identified him as Aijaz Ahmad Darzi son of Ab Rasheed Darzi resident of Kharpora Murran.
Stating that during searches 20 bottles of Codeine Phosphate were recovered from the possession of the above named accused , police in it’s statement further said “during questioning the said accused disclosed that he has obtained the said psychotropic substance from a person identified as Aijaz Ahmad Najar son of Gh Nabi Najar resident of Batamurran Shadimarg following which a police party raided the spot and recovered 2000 bottles of Codeine Phosphate from the residential house of the Aijaz Ahmad”.
Stating that both the drug peddlers have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, police in the above referred statement said “ a case vide FIR No. 209/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Rajpora and further investigation has been initiated”, stating therein further that more arrests and recoveries are expected.
In the concluding para of it’s above referred statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers & cultivation of the contrabands in their neighbourhood, warning therein that people found indulging in drug peddling or cultivation will be dealt as per law.
