Rajouri: A Naat Competition was organized by the Department of Islamic Studies, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University in the I.T Seminar Hall of the University. Around 28 Naat reciters from various degree colleges for Rajouri &Poonch and different departments of the University recited Naat in the competition.
Prof. Akbar Masood, Vice Chancellor, BGSBU lauded the efforts of the Department for organizing the event. In his address Prof. Akbar said that such events are important for the holistic development of students to make learning a meaningful experience. The Vice chancellor hoped that the department of Islamic Studies will continue to march on the path of achieving excellence in academics and research. Addressing the students Prof. Akbar said, “There is no substitute to hard work to succeed in any field of study. There is always an opportunity for those who come off with flying colors. Stay focused and work hard rest will fall in place by itself.”
Khurshid Bismil, Patron of the Muslim Educational Trust was the special guest on this occasion. In his address, he mentioned that the emergence of Islam is the greatest revolution in human history and love of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the basic tenet of the faith of a true Muslim. He stressed upon the students and scholars of the department to work hard and become the brand ambassadors of the University. On this occasion, a cash prize of Rs. 40,000 was presented by the Muslim Educational Trust to the toppers of the different batches of M.A Islamic Studies, BGSBU which includes Toiba Shamim, Razia Naz, Shazia, Rida Raina, Faiza Rafiq, Tarannum Sadeeq and Halima Tabassum. For Naat competition, Saleem Talib, Department of Arabic BGSBU, Iqra Mubeen Degree College Mandi and Asidullah Department of Arabic BGSBU secured first, second and third position respectively. They were conferred with merit certificates, mementos and cash awards. Those who were present on the occasion included Registrar Muhammad Ishaq,Dean School of Education Professor GM Malik, Associate Dean School of Islamic Studies & Languages Dr. Shams Kamal Anjum, Associate Dean of Students Dr. Ali Asghar Shah, Joint Registrar Sunil Gupta, Dr. Liyaqat Nayyar Coordinator Department of Urdu, , Dr. Mubashir Malik principal University polytechnic college, faculty members , students and research scholars of the University. The program was coordinated by Dr. Naseem Gul, coordinator Department of Islamic Studies.Dr. Rafiq Anjum, Assistant Professor Islamic Studies proposed the vote of thanks.
