Jammu: Director General Police Dilbag Singh has sanctioned a scholarship of over Rs 2.30 lakh in favour of 28 wards of police personnel killed in the line of duty.
The scholarship has been sanctioned out of the Central Police Education Fund for the academic session 2020-21 in favour of wards of police personnel killed in the line of duty as wards of such slain police personnel are pursuing their education from primary to university level.
Under this order, the scholarship of rupees 2400 each has been granted in favour of 06 wards of police personnel killed in the line of duty who are studying in primary classes. While Rs 6000 each has been sanctioned in favour of those three wards who are pursuing middle education. Similarly, the scholarship of rupees 10000 to 12000 has been granted in favour of 19 wards of slain police personnel pursuing higher education.
Police headquarters is running various scholarship schemes which include scholarships for wards of serving/deceased/slain Police personnel/SPOs for class 10th & 12th. Special reward is also given to the students who perform exceptionally in the college/universities and technical courses. Rewards are also given to the wards who crack competitive exams like UPSC, JKPSC, NEET, NET, CSIR etc.
