Bandipora: Continuing with Block Divas initiatives of Lieutenant Governor Administration, special public grievance redressal camps were held across Bandipora district on Wednesday to get the first hand appraisal of the issues faced by the public.
The public interaction programme witnessed huge participation of locals who were enthusiastic about presenting the issues of the area before the District administration teams.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmad attended the Public Darbar at Bandipora block and gave patient hearing to all issues put forth and took spot decisions for speedy action.
The DC was accompanied by Member District Development Council, Ghulam Mustafa Khan; Assistant Commissioner Development, Abdul Rashid Dass; Chief Planning Officer, Imtiyaz Ahmad; Deputy Superintendent of Police, Dr Idrees Ahmad and other senior officers of the district.
Apart from other issues people stressed on ensuring power supply as per schedule during winters, bringing the Wullar lake on tourism map, availability of pure drinking water and ration, Solid Waste management in Panchayats and town, renovation of water bodies, macadamization of left out roads besides highlighting the issue regarding growing menace of drug abuse among youth.
While interacting with the public delegations, the DC directed the officers to launch a special awareness campaign at Panchayat level regarding various welfare schemes and the schemes for unemployed youths for establishing various income generating units.
He also urged people to avail the benefit of “Aapki Zameen Aapki Nigrani” Land Records Information System recently launched by the Lieutenant Governor. He said users can search and view copies of scanned data of their land records online on CIS Portalhttp://landrecords.jk.gov.in/. He said the initiative will facilitate easy online access to the Land Records System, thereby reducing manipulation of the Land Records and improving the efficiency of Revenue offices substantially.
While responding to public issues, DC asked officers to ensure electricity in winters as per schedule and urged people to co-operate by not using heating appliances that put load on the system and leads to frequent power cuts.
The DDC further asked the concerned officers to work in proper coordination in monitoring of mobilisation of target sub-groups of unorganised workers like MGNREGA workers, SHG members under NRLM and NULM, street vendors, Auto drivers, construction (BOCW) workers, mid-day meal workers, domestic workers, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, Agricultural laborers and Fishermen through respective line departments for registration under e-SHRAM in terms of defined targets
Dr Owais said Rs 200 Cr project is under execution to beautify Wullar lake and efforts are on to bring the lake on tourism map. He said several measures have already been taken to attract tourist including development of parks around Wullar, dredging and cleaning of the lake and construction of Boulevard.
The DC also called for adopting zero tolerance against encroachment of water bodies and instructed Revenue and Irrigation and Flood Control Dept to ensure removal of encroachments.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sumbal Dr Bashir Ahmad Lone and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Gurez, Dr Mudasir Ahmad Ahmad Lone also attended the Block Diwas at their respective headquarters where they heard the public grievances.
