The experiences of high intensity waves of covid-19 pandemic necessitate the access of the people of semi urban and rural areas to basic healthcare facilities and as such change in the health care policy necessitates scope for changing the priorities for upgradtion of the basic healthcare infrastructure in Jammu & Kashmir like several states and union territories of the country. In the emerging health scenario upgrdation of the preventive healthcare facilities is more important than the change in health insurance schemes announced and implemented from time to time by he Government in Jammu & Kashmir like several states and union territories of the country. For building a robust preventive healthcare system the investments for upgrading the preventive healthcare infrastructure have to be a priority . As the demand for robust preventive healthcare system is growing day after day, round the clock medical checkups and tele-medicines services is no longer a growing demand only is urban Kashmir but demand for such facilities is  also growing in semi urban and rural areas of Jammu & Kashmir as swell. As challenges thrown up by high intensity covid-19 pandemic waves have raised the levels of health consciousness equally in urban and rural areas across Jammu & Kashmir , the response of the Government to the health consciousness by all standards of understandabilities have to equally strong. Since the delivery of preventive healthcare services was more prompt in Government hospitals than private hospitals during the high intensity pandemic periods in Jammu & Kashmir like many other parts of the country, the faith of people in the working of government hospitals has grown unprecedentedly during last two years of covid-19 pandemic across Jammu and Kashmir. By all standards of understandabilities it is for the government to change it’s health policy by redefining it’s priorities for the upgradation of preventive healthcare system in Jammu & Kashmir.

The basic preventive health care facilities to be upgraded in semi urban and rural hospital include latest biomedical equipment (like CT scan machines, ultrasound machines, X-ray equipment, Auto analysers, etc) and simultaneously a time bound recruitment policy for upgrading the growing manpower facility is equally important for smooth functioning of preventive healthcare facilities in such hospitals in semi urban and rural areas across Jammu & Kashmir.

After overcoming huge challenges during high intensity pandemic periods the upgradation of preventive health care system could be a bigger challenge for the government in coming years and all depends on government’s interest in investment for the upgradation of preventive health care system.
