Police distributes face masks in G’bal

G’bal: Police alongwith civil administration of district Ganderbal jointly distributed face masks among the general public throughout the district Ganderbal.
The drive was initiated on the directions of SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar. During the drive, Police along with district administration distributed face masks among the general public throughout the district Ganderbal. General public were informed about the necessity of Covid-19 guidelines/instructions. They were given awareness about maintaining proper hygiene, social distancing and wearing of face masks. Besides, they were also advised to follow Covid-19 SOPs regularly to avoid serge in Covid cases.
4 drug peddlers arrested in Pulwama & Kulgam,Contraband substances recovered : Police
Kulgam, Pulwama: Police on Monday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers in Pulwama & Kulgam districts of South Kashmir and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued on Monday police said that officers from PS Pulwama at a checkpoint established near Gudoora bridge Newa intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK01J-7350 with three persons on board identified as Rafiq Sheikh son of Abdul Gani Sheikh resident of Newa, Umer Manzoor son of Manzoor Ahmad Rather and Suhail Andrabi son of Mohd Ismail Andrabi both residents of Natipora Srinagar.
Stating that during checking 4.45 grams of Brown Sugar were recovered from the possession of the above named accused and moreover 61kgs of Fukki concealed in a polythene bag were also recovered from the said vehicle, police in it’s statement further said ‘ the above named accused have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody”. “Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized”, reads the police statement”, adding that “ a case vide FIR No. 305/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Pulwama and investigation has been set into motion”.
Police in the above referred statement also said that in yet another similar incident in South Kashmir’s Kulgam police arrested a drug peddler and recovered huge quantity of contraband substances from his possession. Stating that on specific information, officers from PS Qazigund raided the suspected residential house at Levdoora, Qazigund and during checking, recovered 1.5kgs of Poppy straw, 13kgs of grinded Cannabis, 1.2kgs of Cannabis powder from the possession of one notorious drug peddler Manzoor Ahmad Ganie son of late Ghulam Nabi Ganie resident of Levdoora Qazigund who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Police in it’s statement also said that a case FIR No 262/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Qazigund and further investigation is in progress.
In the concluding para of it’s police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood, but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, stating therein that actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
