Drug peddler arrested in Ang, Contraband substance recovered: Police

Anantnag: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Anantnag and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued on Saturday police said that officers from Police Post Janglatmandi at a checkpoint established at Ashijipora Anantnag apprehended a drug peddler and identified him as Muzaffar Ahmad Akhoon son of Nazir Ahmad Akhoon resident of Bilal Mohalla Janglatmandi Anantnag.
Stating that during searches2Kgs of Charas Powder were recovered from the possession of the above named accused who was arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody, police in it’s statement further said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Anantnag and further investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, adding therein that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken as part of efforts made to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
