Beautification measures of B’pora Town reviewed

Bandipora:On the directions of District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora, Joint Director (Planning), Imtiyaz Ahmad saturday took stock of town beautification works.
On the occasion, the JDP informed that three gates revealing signage on retro-reflective boards are being installed at town entry points, on which work will start in weeks time as stated by AEE R&B.
He also reviewed the arrangements for the development of “Kangri Chowk” near the DC office. He directed the officers to realign HT lines so that necessary works can be carried out as soon as possible. He also instructed for extraction of one pole to pave the way for Start of work.
He however informed that the contractor will be put on final notice by R&B to start work immediately failing which action shall be taken against him.
While inspecting the Kaloosa Bridge, the Joint Director observed that the cables hanging along the bridge give a shabby look to the bridge and directed officers to shift the cables beneath the bridge.
Meanwhile, President MCB, Khursheed Ahmad got the hoardings removed immediately which were installed irregularly and without permission on Kaloosa Bridge.
He further hinted at acting tough on cable operators responsible for laying haphazard cables without proper fixing and permission.
JDP instructed PDD to replace bulbs of lights and relocate lines. He informed that a solar tree is also being installed in town, first of its kind, for which a suitable place has been identified that will reduce the burden on PDD as street lights can be operated through the solar tree.
He informed that the next important task taken in hand is beautification of old Kaloosa Bridge for which DDC has sanctioned funds to R&B.
JDP asked R&B dept to propose a second bridge near the demolished site under NABARD. He Further asked R&B to allot the beautification works at the bridge immediately like was done in Papchan.
Furthermore PDD was directed to shift the utilities as per discussions held near the bridge. One road is also to be proposed along Eidgah for construction of Children’s park. JDP stated that follow up visits are necessary to have results expedited.
He was accompanied by President MC Bandipora, Khursheed Ahmad, CEO MC Bandipora, AEE R&B, AEE, PDD and other senior officers of the district.
