Srinagar/ Oct,30 : The Department of Clinical Hematology & Bone Marrow Transplant,         S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) here on Saturday organized National CME-Malignant Hematology Update under the theme “ Brave the challenges in Leukemias and Lymphomas” .

Director, SKIMS, Prof. A.G.Ahangar while appreciating the services rendered by  Department of Clinical Hematology & BMT outlined how the department has grown despite many challenges and has started Doctorate of Medicine (DM) and Post Doctorate (Phd) Programme. He admired the Department of Cl. Hematology for its cutting age Technology and innovations in the  services and support of patient care and observed that the department is taking Cancer Management at new heights through indigenous and rare procedures benefiting the patients for which patients would seek Management from outside the state. Dr. A.G Ahangar also lauded ex-faculty of the department for their efforts and contributions including Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad, Prof. Shad Saleem, Prof. Mohd Iqbal Qadri, Prof. Samoon Jeelani, in particular. He also welcomed the Guest speakers like Dr. Tulika Seth, Dr. Garav Prakash with others on this occasion who made it all the way from AIIMS, New Delhi, PGI Chandigarh etc. Dr. Ahangar lauded the role of young Faculty and Scholars in the service of this Superspeciality and its Academic Excellence towards the of Post Doctoral Programme

Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad, Principal and Dean Faculty of Medicine, Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences Jolly Grant, Dehradun, Ex-Principal SKIMS, MC & H, Bemina, Ex-HOD Clinical Hematology and Medical Oncology SKIMS who was Chief Guest on the occasion appreciated Director SKIMS & EOSG Dr. A.G Ahangar for uplifting the department of Cl. Hematology and making it a centre of excellence which he said is playing a vital role in cancer management. He said the department is now a recognized centre for conducting rare procedures in  J&K. He appreciated young faculty of the department and management for their continuous efforts for improved patient care.

National guest speakers delivered their elusive talk on leukemias and lymphomas and how these cancers can be treated in the current times. Dr. Javid Rasool, Prof. & Head of the Department gave welcome address, Dr. Afaq Ahmad Khan, Assistant Prof. gave introduction of chief guest Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad. Dr. Sajad Geelani, Additional Prof. delivered organizing secretary address and gave an overview of how all concerned have contributed to the development of the Department. After scientific sessions Dr. Reashma Roshan, Assistant Prof. gave vote of thanks and appreciated the role of everyone who participated in this event.
