Rising trends of joblessness in J&K

Fear of covid-19 pandemic is so terrific and terrible that people are struggling for survival one way or the other in Jammu & Kashmir like several states and union territories of the country. While the people grappling with the normal healthcare issues are gripped with the fear that pandemic may catch them any time, the people who survived pandemic in last two years after undergoing short or prolonged treatments at their homes in isolation or covid care facility centres are still not sure about their complete recovery from the pandemic. What matters the most is the fact the even people who were not caught by the pandemic spend their days with the apprehensions about their survival. Though pandemic is not over but it’s intensity has reduced and consequently stress on the healthcare system has reduced. The reduced stress on the healthcare system has though brought a much awaited respite to the health care workers including both the health specialists and as well as the para medicos but the stress on the business and trade has not reduced much  and consequently the concerns over the joblessness are rising day after day and month after month across Jammu & Kashmir. Amid rising concerns over the joblessness in an atmosphere of a reduced intensity of covid-19 pandemic the unemployment has risen above 23% in Jammu & Kashmir. So covid-19 pandemic has by all standards of understandabilities intensified the crisis of unemployment in Jammu & Kashmir where people are already reeling under increasing economic stress triggered by two successive covid lockdowns in last two years one after the other. Amid increasing stress of unemployment triggered by two civid lockdowns in last two years the untimely snow in mid October has badly hit agriculture and horticulture sectors the two key areas of economy in Jammu & Kashmir.

Amid increasing joblessness in Jammu & Kashmir intensifying the revival of trade and business activities for reducing the increasing joblessness is the only way out as increasing the intensity in trade and business activities would consequently reduce the increasing intensity of joblessness in Jammu & Kashmir like several states and union territories of the county.

Though Government has promised adequate compensation for the loses suffered by the farmers in agriculture and horticulture sectors but it would take some time for the government to assess the losses suffered by farmers and fix up the compensation adequately and till then there is no alternative to the revival of trade and business. Though trade and business is reviving with the improvement in the covid scenario  in Jammu & Kashmir like several states and union territories of the country but there is scope for increasing the intensity of trade and business in both Kashmir valley and as well as Jammu division.
