Kulgam: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr.Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat Thursday convened a meeting here to review the functioning of all four Municipal Committees (MCs) of the district.
The DC while addressing the functionaries said that the Municipalities play a vital role in development, sanitation and beautification of towns and directed the concerned to ensure that they remain ahead in all the fronts.
During the meeting, the DC took a detailed review and progress registered so far under various Urban Development schemes including PMAY (U), District CAPEX, revenue realization, Waste management etc.
EOs informed the chair about the functioning of the Municipal Committees. They also apprised about the availability of machinery and manpower and recently procured machinery under 14th FC by these Municipal Committees.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the EOs to ensure that footpaths are free from encroachments and act tough against the violators and encroachers across their jurisdiction.
He also passed directions to PDD and Municipal authorities to make all newly installed street lights functional without any delay.
The meeting was attended by ADDC, JD-Planning, AEE R&B, Tehsildars, EOs, and other Officers.
