Week-long Multi-Physics analysis of electrical machines workshop begins at NIT Srinagar

Srinagar: Week-long workshop on “Multi-physics analysis of Electrical Machine Using ANSYS Software and PLECS Simulation tool for Power Electronics Applications” began at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Wednesday.
The workshop is being organized by the Electrical Engineering department, while it is sponsored by Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) India in association with PLEXIM, Switzerland.
The inaugural session of the workshop was presided over by the Director, Prof.(Dr.) Rakesh Sehgal, who is also the Chief Patron of the workshop, while Prof. Mairaj Ud Din Mufti, Professor, EE, Prof. Aijaz Ahmad Professor, EE, Prof. S. A. Lone are the patrons of the program.
HOD, Electrical Engineering NIT Srinagar, Dr. Mohammad Abid Bazaz is the convener of the weeklong workshop. Prof.Abdul Hamid Bhat, Dr. Obbu Chandra Sekhar, and Dr. Hareesh Myneni are the Program Coordinators of the event.
The workshop was formally inaugurated by Prof. Sehgal and he spoke about the developing software technologies like ANSYS and congratulated the Electrical Engineering Department for organizing such events.
“We have should not use any software as a black box and should know what is happening inside, how they are selecting tools and other things,” he said.
In his message, Registrar NIT, Prof. Kaiser Bukhari also appreciated the organizers for conducting a workshop on a relevant theme. He said these sessions are the need of the hour and will explore more in-depth knowledge to the participants.
Dr. Anima Johari, Scientist-D in Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. She briefed the audience about SERB and how it would be willing to fund many more such events which benefit the masses.
HOD, Electrical Engineering NIT Srinagar, Dr. Mohammad Abid Bazaz expressed his gratitude to Dr. Anima Johari Scientist D for accepting to be the chief guest of the inaugural day function. He also thanked all the speakers, participants for agreeing to be part of this fruitful workshop of high research and academic, industrial interest.
“I would like to express my gratefulness to DST (SERB) for sponsoring this workshop and NIT Srinagar administration for encouraging us to conduct these workshops,” he said.
Dr. Bazaz also shared his thoughts with the participants. He spoke about the benefits of ANSYS and associated software.
Earlier, the inaugural ceremony began with the workshop coordinator, Dr. Obbu Chandrasekhar welcoming the guests and briefing them about the workshop.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Hareesh Myneni, who was also the coordinator of the workshop. He thanked all the guests and the participants for their attendance. Ms. Sanna Showkat was the host on the occasion whereas Syed Aga Hadi introduced and welcomed the guests.
The inaugural ceremony was followed by the first workshop session being conducted by Anjana MP, Application Engineer, Entuple Tech. Pvt Ltd who delivered a lecture about the Analysis of Rotating machines using RMxprt; Introduction to Ansys Maxwell. On the second day, he would speak about the Simulation of Electric Motor Using Ansys Maxwell.
The third-day lecture would be delivered by Ghanshyam Ambekar, Application Engineer, Entuple Tech. Pvt Ltd on the topic, Multi-physics analysis of a motor using Motor-CAD.
Dr. Manaswini Parimi, Application Engineer, Plexim, Switzerland, and Dr. Suresh Lakhimsetty, Assistant Professor, EE, SVNIT Surat, will present about Introduction to PLECS, Solver setting, and Implementation of SVPWM technique for open-loop v/f control of induction motor drive using PLECS, on the fourth day.
On the final day, Dr. Sonti Venu, Assistant Professor, EE, NIT Raipur, and Dr. Manaswini Parimi, Application Engineer, Plexim, Switzerland will be with us and would talk about Introduction to DC-DC converters and implementation of isolated converters using PLECS, and Getting Started with the TIC2000 Target Support Package with PLECS.
